Rebecca Beadling

Biosphere 2 Fellow
Department of Geosciences

Becki Beadling is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geosciences and an Environmental Protection Agency Science to Achieve Results (EPA-STAR) graduate fellow. Her research focuses on using a combination of observations and climate model data to understand the ocean’s role in climate. Particularly, her research focuses on understanding the role of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) in Earth’s climate system and how this large scale circulation is projected to change as the climate continues to warm. Before starting her Ph.D., Rebecca graduated from the University of Arizona with a masters in Geosciences, where she carried out climate modeling experiments as part of the AMOC model Inter-comparison Project (AMOCMIP); an international climate modeling effort to investigate the impact of future melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet on AMOC. Rebecca completed her undergraduate degree at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 2014, graduating with a B. S. in Chemistry, B. A. in Biology, and a minor in Mathematics. Rebecca is also an instructor for the University of Arizona Sky School program located in the nearby Catalina Mountains, which provides unique inquiry-based science education programs to Arizona K-12 students.
