Md Muzahid Khan
Md Muzahid Khan is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona, advised by Dr. Hongyue Jin. His research focuses on developing sustainable and economically viable pathways for critical mineral recovery from ores, waste streams, mine tailings, and end-of-life batteries. His research integrates industrial process design, optimization, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment to evaluate and scale up emerging technologies for critical mineral recovery. By combining environmental sustainability with economic feasibility, his work aims to develop innovative solutions that support a circular economy, reduce dependence on vulnerable mineral extractions, and enhance economic resilience in the transition toward U.S. clean energy technologies. He received his B.Sc. in Industrial and Production Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh, and M.Sc. in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Outside of research, he enjoys playing cricket, table tennis, and following soccer matches.
