Lois Polashenski

Lois Polashenski is a doctoral student and graduate research assistant in Environmental Science at the Ramírez-Andreotta Integrated Environmental Science and Health Risk Laboratory, focused on community-engaged research that boosts environmental efficacy and health literacy in communities affected by pollution.
 

She earned her B.S. in Environmental Conservation from Cedar Crest College (2021), then worked as a laboratory technician in Pennsylvania and a research technician at the University of Arizona's Water and Energy Sustainable Technology Center before starting her PhD.
 

Outside of their research, Lois is an artist who blends science and creativity, painting watercolor illustrations of insects, plants, and landscapes, and working as a ceramist crafting functional and sculptural pieces. She hopes to weave art into her research and future science education work.
