Clara Randimbiarimanana

Clara Randimbiarimanana is a Ph.D.. Candidate in Sociocultural and Applied Anthropology at the University of Arizona. Her general research interests are related to participatory development and environmental justice in Africa. Her current research investigates the frictions of ocean-based economies and their implications for local culture, community, and landscapes among the Vezo fishers in southwestern Madagascar. She has also conducted related research in various fishing communities. Prior to her graduate studies at the University of Arizona, she earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology & Anthropology & International Affairs from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, with a specialty in social justice and human rights in Africa. In addition, Clara also served as a project manager in various USAID and World Bank-funded the international development field with Management Systems International (MSI) in Washington, D.C., based in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Pakistan.
