Hannah Friedrich
Hannah Friedrich is a PhD student in the School of Geography, Development and Environment and is a member of the Social[Pixel] Lab. Her research is motivated to advance how remotely sensed satellite imagery can document the unequal impacts of extreme climate events and their aftermath. Hannah uses satellite imagery to monitor urban damage and recovery following tropical storms and floods. She links trajectories of recovery with streams of federal spending for disaster assistance to identify and measure inequities in disaster recovery on the US Gulf Coast. She holds a master’s degree in Geography from Oregon State University and a bachelor’s in Geography and Geographic Information Systems/Cartography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
