Nupur Joshi

Nupur Joshi is a first-year Ph.D. student in the School of Geography and Development. Her research analyzes the challenges that women face due to inadequate water and sanitation infrastructure in the wake of climate variabilities such as prolonged droughts and intense floods in informal settlements in Nairobi, Kenya. She is particularly interested in studying how these processes shape women’s perceptions on menstrual health and hygiene. Prior to starting her Ph.D., Nupur worked on a range of projects related to sanitation services in urban spaces, gender and mobility, and tuberculosis detection rates among women in India. As a dancer and theatre actor, she wishes to join her art and research by using dance to promote dialogues on social justice issues.
