Brian Blais

Institute of the Environment Fellow
School of Natural Resources and the Environment

Brian Blais is a PhD student in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment with a focus on wildlife conservation and management. His research bridges natural resource conservation with both applied ex situ (off-site) and in situ (within nature) science. Specifically, Brian works directly with the Phoenix Zoo’s conservation department on native species reintroductions while providing evidence-based information for wildlife recovery. In turn, field-based ecological and environmental data can be used to adaptively manage and improve ex situ programs. To address various ecological objectives, Brian frequently uses minimally-invasive methods to monitor individuals and populations.
